Scarves are in! You have got nothing to lose. Now, you may wonder how to pull off a scarf without looking all wrapped up. How you tie your scarf can transform your outfit from casual to elegant with simple adjustments.

Scarves come in all shapes, sizes and colors to suit different tastes and personalities. When selecting the perfect scarf, notice the different patterns and fringes. Basically, scarves come in two common cuts, that are, short and squarish or long and narrow. The long and narrow type tends to be more versatile.

Make sure the color of your scarf complements your skin tone and matches nicely with your clothes, bags, shoes and other accessories. It is also important to note the type of fabric, texture and ornamentation when making your selection.

The most basic style that is suitable even for cold winter is this: first, fold your scarf and bring the ends of your scarf together, and then wrap it around the back of your neck so that each end hangs down at the front. Now make a loop and pull one end through the loop.

If you have square scarves, simply fold the square in half into a triangle. Place the scarf with the triangle pointing downwards in front of your neck. Now wrap the ends of the triangle around the back of your neck so that each end hangs down at the front.

Need to warm up? No worries. Just twist the scarf around your neck many times and tuck the ends underneath your coat. You may match this style with trendy jackets or blazers because the scarf still allows you to show off the collars.

You may also like to go classic with silk or satin scarves. Simply drape the scarf around your neck and leave one end in front and the other at the back for that classy and timeless look. Otherwise, go bohemian with patterned scarves, extending it in front of your neck and then wrap it around the back so that both ends hang down at the front.

For a chic look, use a wide and sheer scarf. Never mind that it looks slightly out-of-place. The outcome is chic and sophisticated. You can also pair any scarf with your favorite bag by performing a simple knot at the center of the scarf for that neat preppy look.

Proportions and coordination are essential to make or break your outfit. A thick scarf can be a powerful statement for streamlined outfits, so it is good to keep everything else to a minimum. If you are vertically challenged, do not go for long scarves that dangle out in the front as it makes you appear shorter. With all these in mind, you are ready to hit the streets!
