Beauty is skin deep as the saying goes. For many years, jewellery has been adorning every possible part of the human body such as the neck, ears, nose, forehead, hands, wrists, waists and feet of both male and female. Do we need them? Actually, it is not so much about whether we need them or not. It has become a fundamental part of our lives, something to adorn ourselves with, since the stone age. Until today, many women and even little girls are still crazy about these things called jewellery.

Jewellery is a work of art. A lot of skill and time have been invested into making beautiful pieces out of plain metals and stones. These artistically carved pieces are highly regarded once they have found the right place on a woman’s figure and the woman will radiate confidence and beauty to everyone around her.

Gone are the days when diamonds, gold, silver, platinum and precious stones were the only items used to make jewellery. Nowadays, imitation jewellery has found a place in our lives due to the affordability factor without compromising on the appearance. Many of the imitation jewellery look just as beautiful and trendy as the genuine ones. You can even find jewellery made of clay, ceramics, cheap stones and wood. People still buy them, regardless of gender, as style is the main attraction here.

Nobody can deny that jewellery has the ability to attract. Well-made jewellery is able to attract people of the same gender as well as people of the opposite gender. Hence, jewellery are brilliant gift ideas as you can gift your male partner items like gold chains and diamond tie pins as presents, and in turn, receive diamond necklaces and pearl earrings.

It is now possible to produce gems synthetically in the laboratory. Take for example, some people wear jewelleries that has been incorporated with cubic zirconia. Although it is cheaper, it closely resembles a real diamond and is nearly as resilient, which is why some people may resort to this rather than the real diamond.

Jewellery has a lot to do with tradition. With this in mind, designers will assess the traditional value of each item before shaping them. Women are generally a choosy lot. They are willing to pay for a certain jewellery as long as they like it. So while quality is important, the preparation process should be done carefully as well. Jewellery may serve as an indication of social prestige for some, but wearing them every day to the working place is definitely not a good idea as you may become a vulnerable target for thieves.
